Team Nigeria captain Anuoluwapo Opeyori beaten in Paris Olympics Badminton event

Nigeria’s sole representative in badminton at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Anuoluwapo Opeyori, faced a tough challenge in his opening group game. Opeyori lost 2-0 to Tobias Kuenzi of Switzerland in the men’s singles.

In the first set, Opeyori showed impressive skill, leading by three set points and nearly clinching the set. However, Kuenzi edged out in a tie-break, winning 22-20.

The second set saw Opeyori fight back to level the scores at 6-6, but Kuenzi maintained his momentum and secured the set with a score of 21-14, thus winning the match 2-0.

Despite this setback, Opeyori is set to return to the court tomorrow to compete against Li Shifeng of China.
