‘Playing for Nigeria has always been my dream’ – Falconets invitee Simone Reilly reacts to call-up

Simone Reilly, a forward for Bohemian FC, has shared her long-held dream of playing for the Nigerian national football team. SportsRation reports.

Reilly, who has been invited to join the provisional squad for the U-20 Women’s World Cup, is excited about the opportunity.

Head coach Chris Musa Danjuma has selected Reilly as one of 12 strikers for the upcoming tournament in Colombia. Reilly, who was born to an Irish father and a Nigerian mother, expressed her pride and determination to represent Nigeria.

“I am extremely delighted with my experience in the Falconets setup,” Reilly said. “It has always been my dream to play for Nigeria. Despite being eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland, Nigeria has always been my first choice. I am working very hard to convince my coaches, and my goal is to make the final squad for the World Cup in Colombia.”

Nigeria’s team will face strong opponents in Group D, including three-time winners Germany, Korea Republic, and Venezuela. The U-20 Women’s World Cup will take place in three Colombian cities from August 31 to September 22.

Reilly hopes to make a significant impact if she is selected for the final squad
