‘How we beat Plateau United in Jos’ – Niger Tornadoes coach reveals winning strategy

Niger Tornadoes coach, Majin Mohammed, has disclosed how his team’s well-executed strategy led them to a 2-1 victory over Plateau United in a matchday three encounter of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Ikon Allah Boys secured their second consecutive away win, extending their unbeaten run in the league, at the New Jos Stadium.

Speaking after the impressive result, Mohammed explained that the team had meticulously planned for the clash, knowing they would face a strong challenge from Plateau United. “We planned for this win. Our strategy worked perfectly. The players executed their roles exceptionally well,” he said.

Mohammed also highlighted how the team’s solid defense played a crucial role in holding off Plateau United’s attacking efforts. “We knew Plateau United would push hard, but our defense was solid. The win is a testament to our team’s hard work and determination,” he added.

Recalling the previous season’s defeat at the hands of Plateau United, the Tornadoes captain revealed that the loss had fueled their determination for this encounter. “They came to Kaduna and beat us last season, and we always had this in mind. That’s why we prepared so well for them.”

Niger Tornadoes, who have been playing their home matches away from home for some time, have developed a resilient mindset when it comes to away fixtures. “Tornadoes have been playing home matches away from home for a while now, so I can say it has become a mentality for us, because we see every away game as a home game,” Mohammed concluded.

With this victory, Niger Tornadoes continue their impressive form in the new NPFL season, building momentum as they push for a strong league campaign.
