What Kennedy Boboye said about Sunshine Stars vs Nasarawa United
Kennedy Boboye, head coach of Sunshine Stars, has acknowledged that his side faced a difficult opponent after their narrow 1-0 win over Nasarawa United.
Olufemi Opeoluwa’s 17th-minute goal proved decisive in the match day eight fixture of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), held at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode. Opeoluwa’s goal earned Sunshine Stars the maximum points, helping them maintain their push in the upper half of the table.
Speaking after the game, Boboye praised Nasarawa United, saying, “We played against a good side coached by an experienced coach.” He went on to admit that the match was more challenging than expected. “It was a very tough game for us today as we did not play the way we normally run over teams. Had we conceded a goal, it would have been a different result,” he added.
With this victory, Sunshine Stars now sit in fourth place on the NPFL table, having accumulated 13 points from eight matches. The win keeps them firmly in contention as they continue their quest for a top finish this season.
Sunshine Stars’ next challenge will be an away fixture against Plateau United in Jos, a match that could further test their form and resolve as they aim to stay among the top teams in the league.
