Pep Guardiola reflects on viral dressing room outburst
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken about his emotional dressing room outburst, which was captured in a video that recently went viral.
The clip, part of City’s new documentary Together: 4-In-A-Row, shows Guardiola passionately addressing his players, saying:
“That’s why no one did four Premier Leagues in a row! That’s the reason why! Because it’s so difficult!”
The documentary, which highlights City’s push for a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title, premiered on 20 November 2024 on CITY+.
Frustrations on Display
The 90-minute film also features Guardiola’s reactions during tense moments from matches against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. These include:
- Rodri’s red card against Nottingham Forest.
- Phil Foden conceding a late penalty against Crystal Palace.
These incidents sparked fiery responses from the manager in the dressing room.
Guardiola Reflects
Addressing the viral moments, Guardiola admitted he sometimes struggles to control his emotions:
“I’m not proud of myself when, right after a game, I pass my anger onto the players. I’m human; I make mistakes, and I don’t like behaving that way.”
He added:
“At times, like when we’re down to 10 men or give away a careless penalty, it’s hard to hold back.”
Guardiola’s Winning Mentality
Despite his fiery approach, many believe Guardiola’s intensity reflects his drive to win and motivates his players.
City recently faced a challenging period, losing four consecutive games. However, Guardiola remains determined to guide the team back to their best form as they chase more success.
