Ifeoma Onumonu Scores as Montpellier Defeat St. Etienne

Super Falcons star  Ifeoma Onumon scored in Montpellier HSC’s 2-0 win over St. Etienne in the French Women’s League on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

Onumonu, who joined Montpellier from the American NWSL, has been in excellent form since moving to France.

The 30-year-old striker started the match under head coach Yannick Chandioux. Montpellier took the lead early, with Lola Gstalter scoring in the second minute.

In the 42nd minute, Onumonu doubled the lead, finishing off an assist from 19-year-old Gstalter.

The second half saw no goals as both teams focused on defending well. Onumonu received a yellow card in the 76th minute and was replaced by Malawi’s Rose Kadzere in the 87th minute.

Onumonu’s goal marked her fourth consecutive game scoring for Montpellier, highlighting her strong impact on the team.

Montpellier’s next game is against Dijon after the international break, where Nigeria will play a friendly match against France.
