Nigeria Claims Second Victory at African Military Games Volleyball Event
Nigeria secured their second win at the 2024 African Military Games with a dominant 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso in the men’s volleyball event in Abuja on Tuesday.
The match was one-sided, with Nigeria showcasing their strength. In the first set, SLT Seiyefa Dikiyai’s powerful spikes overwhelmed Burkina Faso, ending 25-10.
Burkina Faso showed more determination in the second set but couldn’t withstand Nigeria’s firepower. Elisha Anebi’s precise deliveries to Emmanuel Briggs and Cyril Iritabor helped Nigeria take the set 25-16.
In the third set, Nigeria maintained control to win 25-19. SLT Seiyefa Dikiyai was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his standout performance.
Head coach MWO Solomon Zango praised the team’s effort, saying:
“The boys played with great confidence and teamwork. Our strategies worked well, especially in the first set. SLT Seiyefa Dikiyai was outstanding, and the team supported him excellently.”
Zango stressed the importance of consistency, adding:
“Tougher matches lie ahead, but if we stay focused and play as a unit, we can achieve more success in this tournament.”
In other matches, Ghana beat Sierra Leone 3-0 (25-21, 25-9, 25-10), while Algeria defeated Kenya 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-15, 26-24).
