Super Eagles Captain Talks About His First Impression of Harry Kane’s Career
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has shared his thoughts on former teammate Harry Kane’s successful career. Troost-Ekong said he was surprised by Kane’s success but believes Kane’s hard work has made him the player he is today.
Troost-Ekong and Kane were both young players at Tottenham, where they trained in the academy. While Troost-Ekong moved to other clubs to further his career, Kane stayed at Tottenham and became one of the top players in football. He is now the all-time top scorer for the England national team and plays for Bayern Munich.
Troost-Ekong admitted that, at first, he didn’t expect Kane to become this successful. In an interview with talkSPORT, Troost-Ekong said, “I’m slightly surprised at his career, but I know how hard he worked for it.” He praised Kane’s strong work ethic and dedication to improving his skills, especially his finishing. He also mentioned that Kane was a great free-kick taker, even though he didn’t show this much in his professional career.
Troost-Ekong also talked about the excellent coaching Kane had during his time in the academy. He said, “We had one of the best academy coaches, John McDermott, and a great team of managers who helped him learn a lot.” Troost-Ekong remembered playing against Kane a couple of times, including once for Nigeria in a match against England at Wembley.
