Morocco get hosting right for more CAF Competitions
Morocco have been awarded the hosting right for the next two editions of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments, billed for 2025 and 2026.
According to CAF, the 2025 edition will take place from March 30 to April 19.
The announcement was made on December 16, 2024, during the Executive Committee meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), held in Marrakech just after the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony.
This marks the second time in recent years that Morocco has been granted hosting rights for a major continental football tournament.
Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, Angola, Zambia and Mali are countries that have already qualified for the CAF U17 African Nations Cup.
As it stands, CECAFA and UNIFFAC still need to play their qualifiers to present other four teams to complete the 12 countries that will partake in the championship. 10 out of the 12 participants are expected to pick the FIFA U17 World Cup tickets as the CAF U17 AFCON serves as world cup qualifiers. FIFA has increased the African slots for the U17 World Cup to 10.
