Clippers delight as Mavericks place SENSATIONAL Luka Dončić on injury list ahead of NBA game
The Dallas Mavericks have placed Luka Dončić on the injury list ahead of their game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday at the American Airlines Center.
After missing practice for the past two days, the 25-year-old Slovenian guard was ruled out due to a left heel contusion. Kyrie Irving is also listed as questionable with right shoulder soreness. Other players on the injury list include Dante Exum (right wrist surgery), Jaden Hardy (right ankle sprain), and Brandon Williams (right thumb sprain).
The Mavericks currently hold a 17-9 record for the 2024-25 NBA season, including 5-1 in games without Dončić. So far this season, he has averaged 28.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 2.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.
The Mavericks are starting a four-game homestand, beginning with the Clippers. After that, they will face the Clippers again in the NBA Saturday game, followed by matches against the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday and Wednesday. It is still unclear whether Dončić will return during this stretch, depending on his recovery.
A former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion with Real Madrid and EuroBasket champion with Slovenia, Dončić is in his seventh NBA season, all with the Mavericks. He was drafted third overall in the 2018 draft and has been named an NBA All-Star multiple times and selected to the All-NBA First Team, becoming the franchise’s star player.
