Trabzonspor to Renew Interest in Paul Onuachu

Turkish football team Trabzonspor is planning to restart talks with Southampton to sign Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu this January. Onuachu’s future has been uncertain for the past year. He joined Southampton from Genk two seasons ago, but struggled to get playing time because of the coach’s preferences.

Last season, Onuachu went on loan to Trabzonspor for more playing time. In Turkey, he did very well, scoring 17 goals and getting 4 assists in 25 games. Because of his strong performances, Trabzonspor showed interest in buying him permanently. However, they couldn’t agree on a price with Southampton, so Onuachu stayed at Southampton.

This season, Onuachu found it difficult to get playing time at Southampton until December. Since a new coach, Ivan Juric, took over, Onuachu has played more often. Despite this, there are rumors that Onuachu could still leave the club. Reports say that Trabzonspor plans to reopen talks with Southampton to sign Onuachu this January.

Southampton might want more than €12 million for a permanent transfer, but Trabzonspor is likely to try to bring him in on loan. However, if Juric, the Southampton coach, wants Onuachu to stay, it might be hard for Trabzonspor to sign him.
