All Square as Abia Warriors Play Identical 1-1 Draws vs Dakkada FC and Akwa United

Abia Warriors played out two 1-1 draws in Uyo on Sunday, January 19, 2025, against Dakkada FC and Akwa United, as part of their mid-season preparations.

The first match saw Abia Warriors face Dakkada FC at the Uyo Township Stadium by 12pm. The Warriors took the lead early via a penalty kick but were unable to hold onto it following keen pressure by the NNL side.

Following a period of sustained pressure, Dakkada equalized in the second half to make it 1-1. Dakkada FC, not involved in National League action this weekend, used the friendly to keep their players match-fit.

In the second match of the day, Abia Warriors faced Akwa United at 3:00 pm. Once again, the Warriors took the lead, this time in the second half, but Akwa United responded with a goal to end the match in a 1-1 draw.

Both matches were important and afforded the coaches opportunity to test legs, as they aim to build fitness and improve their tactics ahead of their respective upcoming engagements in the 2024/2025 football season. Akwa United, who have a new coach, Kennedy Boboye, is preparing for the second half of the Nigeria Premier Football League season, which starts on January 26 with several new players in their bid for revival.

While neither team could secure a win, the friendly matches provided valuable practice and opportunity for fans to enjoy top footballing action.
