6,382 Athletes and Officials Set for 9th National Youth Games in Asaba

The 9th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) is set to begin in Asaba, Delta State, with 6,382 athletes and officials confirmed to take part. The Games will run from August 29 to September 6, 2025.
According to the National Sports Commission (NSC), entries from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been finalised through the Digital Registration Management (DRM) process. This includes 4,961 athletes, 635 coaches, 386 team officials, and 400 state delegates.
Gombe State is yet to complete its registration for 74 participants, but the official figure remains at 6,382 registered athletes and officials.
No fewer than 37 sporting events will be contested during the nine-day competition, showcasing talent, teamwork, and determination across the country. Defending champions, Team Delta, will be aiming to retain their title but will face tough competition from other states.
The NSC described the Games as a platform to nurture young talent and promote national unity, stressing that this year’s edition promises thrilling action and the emergence of new stars for Nigeria.
