Mbappe Not Worried About Winning Champions League – Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso says Kylian Mbappe is not feeling any pressure to win the Champions League right away, SportsRation reports.
The French striker, 26, joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain last summer. Ironically, PSG went on to win the Champions League for the first time just after he left.
But Alonso told reporters on Monday that Mbappe isn’t anxious.
“He’s not worried,” said Alonso. “We all see this as the start of something new. Of course, one of our goals is to win the Champions League, and Kylian is a big part of that, but he’s not rushing or stressed about it.”
Alonso said they had spoken about the meaning of the Champions League, but weren’t thinking too far ahead.
“We’re focused on what’s coming soon, not just the final in May,” he added.
Mbappe had a tough time at the Club World Cup in the summer, where Real Madrid lost 4-0 to PSG in the semi-final. He wasn’t at full strength due to a stomach illness.
“It wasn’t the real Kylian at that tournament,” said Alonso. “He was unwell.”
Despite that, Mbappe has made a strong start in La Liga, scoring four goals in his first four games. Alonso praised his influence on the team.
“He’s definitely one of our leaders – his personality, experience, and the way he affects the others shows that clearly,” the coach said.
