Osimhen Scores as Galatasaray Beat Antalyaspor Ahead of AFCON Duty

Victor Osimhen scored again for Galatasaray before leaving to join the Super Eagles for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as the Turkish champions defeated Antalyaspor 4-1 in the Super Lig on Saturday.

The Nigerian striker scored Galatasaray’s third goal in the 56th minute, taking his tally to 12 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions this season. Osimhen showed his pace and power as he collected a pass from Yunus Akgun, cut in from the left wing and finished past Antalyaspor goalkeeper Abdullah Yigiter.

Galatasaray made a strong start to the match and were already 2-0 up within the first 15 minutes, thanks to goals from Leroy Sane and Roland Sallai. Osimhen’s goal, his sixth in the Super Lig this season, effectively ended the contest.

Antalyaspor pulled one goal back in the 69th minute, but Mauro Icardi sealed the win with a late strike to keep Galatasaray top of the league table. The victory leaves the Istanbul club five points clear of second-placed Trabzonspor, who play Besiktas on Sunday.

Osimhen will now turn his attention to international duty with Nigeria. The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C of the 2025 AFCON in Morocco alongside Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania. Nigeria will begin their group stage campaign on 23 December against Tanzania.
