Milos Raonic announces Retirement From Tennis
Former world No. 3 Milos Raonic has announced his retirement from professional tennis, bringing an end to a career that spanned more than a decade at the top of the men’s game.
In a personal statement posted on social media, the Canadian reflected honestly on the moment, admitting it was one he always knew would arrive.
“The time has come, I am retiring from tennis. This is a moment you know will come one day, but somehow you never feel ready for it. This is as ready as I will ever be.”
Raonic described tennis as something that shaped his entire life, from childhood to adulthood.
“Tennis has been my love and obsession for most of my life… playing a game I was introduced to at 8 years old by complete luck. Somehow, this became my entire obsession and childhood, and then became my profession and life.”
Known for one of the most powerful serves of his era, Raonic reached a career-high ranking of world No. 3 and finished as a Wimbledon finalist in 2016. Over his career, he won eight ATP singles titles, each in a different city.
He also took time to thank fans who followed him throughout his journey.
“They got to see me shining at my brightest and managing the hardest of moments on the court. They got to see me grow up.”
Raonic paid tribute to his coaches, fellow players, and tennis organizations before offering a deeply personal message to his family.
“None of this is possible without the consistent effort and emotional support you put into my dreams.”
While his playing career has come to a close, Raonic made it clear he is not stepping away from ambition.
“What’s next? I won’t be slowing down. There is so much more life to live, and I am as motivated and hungry as I was in 2011.”
Raonic leaves the sport as one of the most accomplished players in Canadian tennis history, respected not only for his achievements but for the professionalism and perspective he carried throughout his career.
We wish Milos Raonic nothing but the very best as he begins the next chapter of his life away from professional tennis.
