Tottenham close in on first summer signing?

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the hunt to sign Celta Vigo youngster Pape Cheikh Diop this summer.

The 19-year-old has been with Celta since 2013, and after representing the Spanish outfit’s B team, the teenager made 16 La Liga appearances during the 2016-17 campaign.

Diop has travelled to England with the Celta squad for their pre-season friendlies against Brentford and Burnley on Saturday and Tuesday respectively, and according to ESPN, a number of Premier League clubs will have scouts in attendance to watch the Senegalese in action.

The report adds that Tottenham lead the race, although a number of Premier League clubs are aware of the midfielder’s talents.

Diop was born in Senegal, but has represented Spain at Under-17 and Under-19 level.
