Aruna Quadri and Omar Assar crash out of 2017 ITTF World Cup in round of 16
Africa’s representatives at the 2017 ITTF World Cup have Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri and Egypt’s Omar Assar have crashed out in the round of 16.
Africa number one, Aruna Quadri who recently became the first African player to win an ITTF open title outside an African soil with his Polish Open triumph earlier this month, has crashed out of the ITTF World Cup in the round of 16.
Aruna Quadri, who is the only African player to have ever reached the quarterfinal at the ITTF world cup headed into this year’s event aiming to better his previous feat but Mizutani happened.
The World number 7, Jun Mizutani, beat the African champion in straight set to end his hopes. Quadri went down (11-6, 11-7, 11-6 and 11-7) on Saturday.
The other African representative at the tournament, Egypt’s Omar Assar also lost in five sets to world number one and defendeing champions Ma Long by (11-5, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-4).
