Mo Salah Expected Back Before End of Season After Injury Scare at Liverpool

Liverpool FC are hopeful that Mohamed Salah will return from injury before the end of the season after he was forced off during Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace FC.

There were fears the 33-year-old may have played his final game for Liverpool after he left the pitch in the second half with what looked like a hamstring injury.

It would have been a disappointing end for Salah, who confirmed last month that he will leave the club after nine successful years at Anfield. During his time with Liverpool, he has scored 257 goals in 435 appearances.

However, Liverpool released a statement on Wednesday saying the injury is only a “minor muscle injury” and they expect the Egypt international to recover before the season ends.

Liverpool’s final match of the campaign will be against Brentford FC at Anfield on 24 May.

The latest update also means Salah is still expected to captain Egypt national football team at this summer’s World Cup.

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has won two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two EFL Cups and the Community Shield.

Only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt have scored more goals for Liverpool than Salah.

When he walked off the pitch against Crystal Palace, Salah took time to applaud the Anfield crowd, which made many fans think he might not play again this season.

Although a return against Manchester United FC at Old Trafford on Sunday looks unlikely, Liverpool are hopeful he will still feature before the campaign ends.

Liverpool will also face Chelsea FC on 9 May and Aston Villa FC on 17 May before ending the season against Brentford.
