Jerome Akor backs Flying Eagles for historic U20 World Cup title

Sogndal striker Jerome Akor has said Nigeria U20 team can claim the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland.

Nigeria have been close to claiming the title on different occasions but a second place finishes in 1985 and 2005 the closest they’ve achived.

But Jerome Akor believes the Flying Eagles who are top amongst the underdogs can win the title for the first time this year.

“I know we have not won this trophy before and are not the among the favourites, but my target is to win the U20 World Cup in Poland and set a new record,” as quoted by ScoreNigeria.

The 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup will be played in Poland from 23rd of May to 15th of June and Nigeria are drawn in the same group as Qatar, USA and Ukraine.
