Akwa United gaffer, Kennedy Boboye has been charged by the League Management Company of the NPFL following his comments to journalists after his team’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Heartland FC in their Matchday Six fixture on Sunday.
Coach Boboye was irked by the calibre of goals scored by the Naze Millionaires after his team had taken the lead through Mfon Udoh. Heartland were given a controversial penalty which was converted by Samuel Nnoshiri, before a controversial late winner was scored by Pascal Eze.
In his post-match press duties, coach Boboye slammed the refereeing in the game, saying “It’s a shame. I honestly don’t have anything to say because we can never grow with officiating like this. It is a shame to Nigerian football that we are on this level.”
He has been charged with breaching Paragraph 7 appendix B from the LMC framework guiding the league. He has been given 48 hours to either face a panel or choose to pay the fine of ₦250,000 and face a touchline ban of one game.
