Gabriel set for sidelines due to ankle injury
West Indies paceman Shannon Gabriel is almost certainly out of the remainder of the first Test against Australia due to an ankle injury.
Gabriel had figures of 1-59 in the first innings in Hobart, where the hosts are – as expected – dominating the Windies.
He suffered an ankle injury during day one and had scans on Friday to find out the full extent of the problem.
“Injury Update: Shannon Gabriel has stress reaction in left ankle bone,” West Indies tweeted.
Just how long Gabriel will be sidelined is yet to be determined, but he is unlikely to feature again in Hobart.
The injury is another blow to West Indies, who have struggled to compete against Australia.
