Blessing Oborodudu set to win Team Nigeria’s first medal at Tokyo 2020

There appears to be light at the end of tunnel after Blessing Oborodudu feats in the Women’s freestyle 68kg.

Nigerians watched Enoch Adegoke limped off the track in yesterday’s 100m men final and saw Tosin Amusan finished 4th in the women’s 100m hurdles final this morning.

But when it seems another medaless campaign beckons, Blessing Oborodudu stepped in to brighten the day.

She defeated Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzonbold 7-2 to book her place in the final.

Blessing Oborodudu defeated Elis Manolova of Azerbaijan 13-2 in the 1st round.

She fought back to beat Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova 3-2 in the quarter-final and battered Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzonbold to book her place in the final.

Blessing Oborodudu will fight USA’s Stock Mensah for the gold medal bragging right tomorrow at a time yet to be decided.

The fight would be the last action of the evening session which starts from 10:15 am NIgerian time.

Regardless of the colour of her medal, Blessing Oborodudu will become Nigeria’s first ever medal winner at an Olympic Games.
