Ndidi latest to talk the difference between Eguavoen and Rohr
Wilfred Ndidi has become the latest Super Eagles player or former player to talk about the difference between the team under Gernot Rohr and Augustine Eguavoen.
Gernot Rohr was sacked and replaced with Augustine Eguavoen as interim coach few days to the start of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
To the surprise of many Nigeria have started the campaign on high winning all three group stages becoming the only nation to do so at the tournament.
Austin Okocha during his job as a pundit on Super Sport mentioned what he observed as the difference between sacked Gernot Rohr and Augustine Eguavoen.
Williams Troost-Ekong also used “the breath of fresh air” to describe coach Augustine Eguavoen when comparing him to Gernot Rohr.
AFCON 2021 best player so far, Simon Moses also said coach Augustine Eguavoen has liberated him and given him the room to shine.
“We are here to compete and win games. There is no difference between this game and the other games we have played here,” Ndidi told a press conference on Saturday.
“It’s going to be the same approach and mentality. We will keep going.
“It’s the same team, but different philosophy. Our current manager makes things simple for us.
“The coach gives us the push and freedom to express ourselves. That’s the difference between 2019 and now.”
Today, 8 pm Nigerian time, the Super Eagles will file out against The Carthage of Eagles for a place in the quarter-final.
