Barkley: Warriors no match for 95-96 Bulls
The Golden State Warriors continue to break all kinds of records in 2015-16 but the NBA champions would be no match for the iconic 1995-96 Chicago Bulls team, according to Charles Barkley.
Golden State are 25-1 after Wednesday’s 128-103 victory over the Phoenix Suns, having won an NBA-record 24 consecutive games to start the season.
The Warriors are on track to match the 72-win mark set by the Bulls almost 20 years ago.
However, 11-time All-Star and 1993 MVP Barkley – who forged a successful career with the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets – believes Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green would struggle against Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman.
“That Bulls team would kill this little team,” Barkley said in an interview on ESPN Radio on Thursday.
“Come on, man. Who is going to guard Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan? What about Dennis Rodman?”
Barkley added: “Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman – let me just start with those three. First of all they would love playing the way the Warriors play. It’s a much easier game now.
“Could you imagine how many points Michael would average if you couldn’t touch him? Dennis would get so many rebounds against that team. They are a very small team.”
