Nigerian Long Jumper Ese Brume delivered a brilliant performance to claim silver in the Women’s Long Jump at the World Indoor Championship in Belgrade, Serbia.
Ese Brume finished in second place in the event with a new Personal Best of 6.85m behind home favourite Ivana Vuleta, who claimed a second consecutive title with a leap of 7.06m. Great Britain’s Lorraine Ugen finished with the bronze medal after a leap of 6.82m.
Brume became the first Nigerian to win a medal at the World Indoor Championship since Olusoji Fasuba claimed gold in the men’s 60m dash in 2008. Brume also claimed Nigeria’s first Long Jump medal at the Championship since Chioma Ajunwa in 1997.
Ese Brume has become only the third Nigerian to win a medal at the Olympics, World Athletics Championship and World Indoor Championship after Glory Alozie and the late Sunday Bada.
