Taiwo Awoniyi scores 12th league goal as Newcastle & two other PL clubs show interest
Taiwo Awoniyi scored his 12th league goal of the season to help FC Union Berlin secure a narrow 1-0 home win against FC Cologne on Friday.
The Super Eagles striker scored the only goal of the game in the 49th minute at the Alte Foersterei to help push Union Berlin to 7th position on the Bundesliga table.
Meanwhile, the former Liverpool striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Taiwo Awoniyi who spent six years at Anfield without playing in any official games for the Reds could be facing them anytime soon.
Three Premier League clubs are said to chasing his signature. New big spenders, Newcastle are reportedly said to be after the 24-year-old striker.
Southampton and West Ham are the other clubs said to be after the striker described in Germany as “direct, leads the line well and is a nuisance for opposing defenders – perhaps one of the Bundesliga’s most underrated forwards.”
So far this season, he has scored 12 goals in 25 league games for Union Berlin.
