Flamingos captain Alvine Dah-Zossu eyes FIFA U17 trophy in India
Nigeria women’s U-17 team (Flamingos) captain, Alvine Dah-Zossu, has said the goal of hers and her teammates is to return to Nigeria with the world title.
Alvine Dah-Zossu said this while the team was leaving Nigeria on Monday, 26th September for a 10-day training camp in Turkey. They will jet off for India from Istanbul on 6th October.
Flamingos will use the 10-day training camp to fine-tune preparation for the FIFA U-17 women’s world cup which will hold from 11th – 30th October.
The attacker revealed that the team’s goal is to win the trophy.
“It wasn’t easy, the journey was like the higher it goes, the tougher it became, but we were able to scale through.
“I believe in my team and we are the best, I knew the quality we have and when resumed camping, our coach has really worked on our mistakes. I know we are going to play better in the world cup than in the qualifiers.
“I’m confident that we are going to scale through the group stage.
“Our goal is to win the World Cup because we’ve worked hard for it”, she said.
Nigeria are in Group B alongside Germany, Chile, and New Zealand.
The girls will first match of the campaign is against Germany in Goa on Tuesday, 11th October, starting at 8 pm India time (4 pm Nigeria time).
They will then square up to New Zealand on Friday, 14th October also in Goa, before flying to Bhubaneswar to take on Chile on Monday, 17th October.
