Super Eagles in Europe: Aribo, Lookman, Onuachu score for their clubs

Ejuke, Iwobi, Bassey, Onyedika all impress

After an international break in which they fell to a narrow defeat in Oran against Algeria, various Super Eagles returned to action with their clubs in Europe.

Joe Aribo scored his second goal of the Premier League season as Southampton fell to a 2-1 home loss to Everton. The 25-year-old fired home an effort from inside the box to hand his side the lead in the match before they were pegged back. Alex Iwobi provided the assist for his side’s winner in the game, his fourth in all competitions this season.

Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman scored his second goal of the season for Italian side Atalanta as they claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Fiorentina. The 25-year-old was on hand to fire home a low cross from Luis Muriel for the Bergamo-based side.

Belgium-based striker Paul Onuachu scored his first goal of the season for KRC Genk in their 2-1 win away to KV Oostende in their Belgian Jupiler League clash. The 28-year-old has fallen out of favour in the Super Eagles setup and will be looking to regain his spot in the squad.

Slavia Prague star Peter Olayinka scored his first goal of the season for his Czech club in their 3-0 win over Slovan Liberec. His compatriots Moses Usor and Yira Sor also featured for Slavia in the match.

Former FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem scored his first league goal for Croatian club Hajduk Split in their 1-0 win against HNK Rijeka. The versatile defender has scored once for the club in the UEFA Europa Conference League, as well.

Hertha Berlin winger Chidera Ejuke provided his third league assist of the season for his club in their 1-1 draw at home to Hoffenheim. Kevin Akpoguma was a second-half substitute for Hoffenheim in the game.

Super Eagles new boy Raphael Onyedika put in a solid shift for Club Brugge in their 3-0 win over KV Mechelen in their Belgian Jupiler League clash.

Calvin Bassey featured for Ajax in their 1-1 draw at home to Go Ahead Eagles. The 22-year-old put on an impressive performance for his side in the clash.
