Red-hot Lookman nets as Atalanta, Udinese play out entertaining draw
Super Eagles forward now on three goals for the season
Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman notched his third goal in Serie A as his side played out a 2-2 draw with Udinese in their Matchday 10 clash. The 25-year-old scored his side’s opener to send them on their way to an important victory in the league.
Having scored the winner last week against Fiorentina, Lookman looked to continue his fine run of form and he did just that by opening the scoring for his side after only 36 minutes in Udine.
Luis Muriel carried the ball forward on a counter attack before sending a low cross into the box for Lookman to majestically arrive at the back post and slam a finish high into the net as the duo combined for a second successive game. The forward was controversially shown a yellow card by the referee for his celebration following the goal.
Atalanta doubled their advantage in the 56th minute through the Colombian striker who slotted home from the spot after Tottenham Hotspur loaned Destiny Udogie conceded a penalty.
Lookman and Muriel were withdrawn after 65 minutes for Ruslan Malinovskiy and Rasmus Hojlung, respectively. Isaac Success was introduced for Beto at around the same time for Udinese.
Udinese pulled one back in the 67th minute through impressive forward Gérard Deulofeu to set up a nervy finish to their clash.
The Bianconeri extended their unbeaten run to seven games as Argentine centre-back Nehuen Perez headed home a cross by his compatriot Roberto Pereyra in the 78th minute to draw his side level.
Atalanta have moved to the top of the Serie A standings with 21 points, while Udinese remain in third place on 20 points this season.
