Man of the match: Uzoho fulfills Old Trafford dream in style
Omonia Nicosia goalkepeer Francis Uzoho delivered a Man of the match performance vs Manchester United in his sides 1-0 loss at Old Trafford.
At a venue he once dreamt of playing at, Uzoho was every meaning of the word excellent and revealed at the Post match interview it was a dream come true.
The Super Eagle has endured a difficult 2022. From the error in Nigeria’s World Cup Playoffs game vs Ghana to playing second fiddle at Omonia to Brazilian goalie Fabiano to another error on international duty vs Algeria, Uzoho had a night to remember at Old Trafford.
“It’s a dream come true for me. I have dreamed to play here for a long, long time, ” Uzoho said at the Post match interview at Old Trafford.
” When I saw the draw and I figured I would be playing at Old Trafford, I prayed to God that I got an opportunity to play.” He said.
Injury to regular goalkepeer Fabiano gave Uzoho opportunity to fulfill his dream and he did that with style, denying United 12 times before Scot Mactominay scored the winner in the 3rd minute of additional time.
Omonia Nicosia are pointless in the 2022/2023 UEFA Europa league campaign and were closing to nicking a priceless point at Old Trafford before Scot Mactominay found a way past the magnificent Uzoho.
The 23 year old believes the performance could bring a turn around to his season but he is happy to have done his best for Neil Lennon tutored Omonia Nicosia and would have treasured a point.
