History book: Hail Ahmed Musa, the Eagle with most World Cup goals
Born on October 14, 1992, Ahmed Musa is currently Nigeria’s highest goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup with four goals.
The forward turns 30 today (Friday October 14, 2022).

Ahmed Musa has four goals at the FIFA World Cup to edge the likes of Rashidi Yekini, Daniel Amokachi, Finidi George and Kalu Uche .
The current Super Eagles skipper bagged a brace at the 2014 and 2018 World Cup tournaments to reach this illustrious stead.
With the Eagles ruled out of the world’s biggest footballing event in 2022, Ahmed Musa will not have opportunity to extend his tally.
BRAZIL 2014
Nigeria faced Argentina in it’s final Group F game of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
In the game at Porto Alegre, Ahmed Musa scored his first two world cup goals but that wasn’t enough to save Nigeria from a 3-2 loss to a Lionel Messi inspired Argentine team .
That was the first time a Nigerian player scored a brace in a FIFA World Cup game. For a youngster as he was then, that was a memorable and happy day in his career.
” I feel so happy scoring two goals against a Messi-inspired team, ” Musa told the Post match interview after the game.
” Above all, I am happier that we have qualified for the second round. We are going to improve more in the second round.
” I know that it is not easy. But we are determined to do better than we did in previous World Cups. ” The forward said.
RUSSIA 2018
In the second game of the 2018 World Cup vs Iceland, Ahmed Musa scored a brace to help Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a 2-0 win.
The game at Volgograd saw Musa become the first Nigerian to score at two World Cup’s (2014, 2018).
Musa fired the Eagles in front with a sweet half-volley early into the second half before adding a second in the 75th minute to secure maximum points for Nigeria.
MOST CAPPED
Ahmed Musa is one player who has enjoyed many years in the Super Eagles roster rising from a teenager to skipper and holder of 107 caps. .
The current Super Eagles skipper missed the last international window with injury sustained in action for his Turkish Super Ligue side Sivaspor.
At 30, Musa could still be available for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to have a chance to score more world cup goals but that will depend on his fitness and productivity at club level.
