Oshoala scores, assists as FC Barcelona Femeni thrash Sevilla
African Player of the Year starts 2023 with a bang
Asisat Oshoala started 2023 in the best way possible as she contributed to two goals for FC Barcelona Femeni in a 4-0 humbling of Sevilla. Fellow Super Falcons star Toni Payne also featured for Sevilla in the game.
Oshoala opened the scoring for her side after only 11 minutes of the match as she showed her pace and ruthless finishing. The pacey striker ran clear following a through ball from Claudia Pina before smashing an effort high into the net, leaving the goalkeeper no chance of making a save. It was her seventh goal of the season in the league.
Oshoala turned provider in the 34th minute after another run clear down the right flank. The 2022 Pichichi winner showed great composure to pick out the run of Pina at the edge of the box, and the Spaniards fired into the back of the net to double their advantage.
Salma Paralluelo scored twice in the 70th and 84th minutes to round off the scoring for the Spanish champions.
Oshoala lasted 76 minutes before she was hooked off for FC Barcelona, while Toni Payne featured for the entirety of the fixture for Sevilla.
