Ekong makes Salernitana debut in 1-2 Italian Serie A win over Leece
Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong made his Salernitana debut in their 1-2 Italian Serie A win over Leece on Friday night.
For a defence that had taken 37 goals in 19 Italian Serie A games, the worst in the league, Salernitana took a stop-gap measure by signing William Troost-Ekong from Watford on a loan deal until the end of the season.
In search of a first win since October 2022, Salernitana manager Davide Nicola named the Super Eagles assistant skipper in his starting XI for the Matchday 20 clash.
THE MATCHÂ
Salernitana arrived at the Stadio Via del Mare troubled by their disastrous form which saw the club drift towards the relegation zone.

Leece will pull one back through Gabriel Steffeza In the 23rd minute to deny Ekong a clean sheet on his Salernitana bow.
The former Watford FC man was at his best to marshal a solid defensive performance and grind out a 1-2 victory for Salernitana.
