Okocha returns to help Super Eagles creative midfield
Nigeria`s Super Eagles creative midfield worries will be solved following the return of midfield maestro Augustine Okocha today April 1.
Aside the glaring concerns in the goalkeeping department, the Eagles have struggled to find a replacement for Okocha who retired from international football in 2006.
He played 73 times for the Nigeria national team between 1993 and 2006, scoring 14 times, and was a member of three FIFA World Cup squads. Famous for his confidence and trickery with the ball, technique, creativity, flair, close control, the is no one in the current crop of Eagles that can match his qualities hence his return to the team.
In the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification games vs Guinea-Bissau, the Nigerian midfield aside Iwobi failed to create openings in the middle but that will change with Okocha`s April 1 inspired return to the team.
