Chuba Akpom Named Championship Player of The Season

Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom has been named the Championship Player of the Season, thanks to his impressive record of 28 goals in 36 games.

The Nigerian-born player has been in exceptional form this season, and his performances have helped Middlesbrough reach the playoffs, with the possibility of promotion to the English Premier League.

Despite being eligible to represent both Nigeria and England, Akpom has confirmed his intention to represent Nigeria, a decision he made personally, as he feels a strong connection to the country.

However, he is yet to receive a call-up from the Super Eagles, something that former captain John Obi Mikel has criticized.

Mikel believes that Akpom’s incredible form should have earned him an invitation to the national team and that his exclusion sends the wrong message to other players who are performing well.

He also suggests that Akpom could be considered by the England national team given his current form.

Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro, however, has not shown enough confidence in the striker despite his impressive performances.

The Portuguese manager has previously stated that he does not have enough confidence in Akpom, but he has not ruled out the possibility of inviting him to the national team.

Maybe he could get a slot in the team when Nigeria face Sierra Leone during the International break after his award and the media attention he is now getting.
