AFCON U-17: Morocco beat South Africa to go top in Group B, Nigeria 2nd
Nigeria face Morocco on Wednesday
Morocco’s U-17 team secured a 2-0 win against South Africa in their opening game of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-17 tournament on Sunday, taking the top spot in Group B.
The Young Atlas Lions scored two second-half goals to beat the Young Bafana Bafana who paraded Nigeria-born Michael Dokunmu.
Despite a scoreless first half, Abdelhamid Boudlal and Adam Hanin scored in the second half to give Morocco the win.
Abdelhamid Boudlal scored Morocco’s first from a spot kick, while Adam Hanin extended the lead with a fine finish.
The 2-0 win puts Morocco top of the table in Group B, recall, the Golden Eaglets are currently second after securing a 1-0 win against Zambia in the earlier fixtures.
Nigeria will face Morocco on Wednesday, while South Africa and Zambia will play each other. The match between Nigeria and Morocco will take place on May 3rd, Wednesday, at 7 pm Nigerian time.
