Aribo backed to make Rangers return

Nigerian Midfielder Joe Aribo has been backed to make a return to Scottish Premier League side Glasgow Rangers this summer.

His move to English Premier league club Southampton has not gone as planned with Aribo not featuring significantly for the Saints.

Things fell apart for the Nigerian Midfield enforcer since Ralph Hasenhuttl was sacked following a poor start to the season.

Subsequent managers Nathan Jones and Ruben Selles have failed get the best of Aribo and Southampton who have been relegated from the English Premier League.

Former Celtic striker John Hartson who now works as a pundit believes a return to Glasgow Rangers will be a good move for Joe Aribo because he knows the club very well.

“The fee would have to come down. It won’t be £10 million. It would have to be at least a third of that,” Hartson said as quoted by Football Scotland.

“I’d take him back in a heartbeat if the opportunity were there, but how would it work financially?

“Southampton will want some of the fees back if he’s out of the picture. Meanwhile, Michael Beale wants to build his own team. And if they sign Malik Tillman?

“If he [Aribo] became available, I’d take him. He knows the club and did well, so why not. But it will depend on wages and fees.” he said.

Aribo enjoyed significant success at Glasgow Rangers, leading the Ibrox Stadium outfit to the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League Final where he scored in the loss to German Bundesliga side Eintract Frankfurt.
