Mane scores brace as Senegal stun Brazil in friendly
Teranga Lions deliver impressive performance to win
Sadio Mane oozed class for Senegal as they came from behind to defeat Brazil 4-2 in their international friendly at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon.
Following their 1-1 draw against Gernot Rohr’s Benin Republic in their AFCON Qualifier days ago, the African champions traveled to Portugal to take on Brazil, who defeated Guinea in a friendly earlier.
The Selecao opened the scoring inside 11 minutes through West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta before Senegal equalised 11 minutes later when Habib Diallo volleyed home from inside the box.
The Teranga Lions took the lead in the 52nd minute when Brazil defender Marquinhos turned a low cross past his own goalkeeper, and Mane added a third in style three minutes later.
Diallo picked out the Bayern Munich man at the edge of the box and he curled a brilliant effort past the dive of Ederson and into the top corner to put his side 3-1 up.
Three minutes later, Brazil were back within one as Marquinhos scored at the right end of the pitch. In the seventh minute of added time, Senegal added a fourth, Mane from the penalty spot after Nicolas Jackson had been fouled in the box.
Senegal became the third African team to defeat the Selecao in the last seven months after Cameroon at the FIFA World Cup and Morocco in a friendly.
