Super Falcons on the same level as France and Australia – Payne
Nigeria forward Toni Payne has sensationally ranked Super Falcons on the same level as heavyweights France and Australia ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The forward bagged one of the goals as Nigeria walloped Australian club Queensland Lions 8-1 in a friendly game as part of their preparations for the 2023 FIFA World Cup which will kickoff on July 20.
After the big win, Payne , one of 23 Super Falcons selected by Coach Randy Waldrum hailed the teams improvement with every training, stating the Nigerian ladies will be ready for the heavyweights starting with their opening game vs Canada on July 21.
We are on the same level as France and Australia, and we are very confident. With the players we have here, we are ready to fight, Payne said per NFF TV.
“We are growing an improving our system every day with every training. Step by step, we are getting ready for our first game against Canada.”
Payne also spoke the presence of the teams new fitness coach, praising the ideas brought for the teams fitness as the prepare to face the world.
The Super Falcons are ranked 40th in the World ahead of the global showpiece which will be hosted by Australia and New Zealand with 32 countries battling for the title for the first time in the competition history.
Nigeria will face Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland in group A.
