Calvin Bassey told to leave Ajax by new Coach
Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey has been told to leave Ajax Amsterdam this summer by new Coach Maurice Steijn, SportsRation reports.
The new Ajax handlers comments comes in the wake of a twenty-one million pounds bid for the defender.
In a chat with press men after a practice 3-0 defeat at friendly loss at Anderlecht last weekend, Maurice Steijn revealed his honest decision about the defenders future and why he thinks it is better that Calvin Bassey leaves Ajax.
The Ajax Coach said of 23-year old Calvin Bassey ” He had a very tough year last season. Everyone gets a second chance and if he does better than anyone else, he plays but chances are that – especially if we get a new left-back or left Central defender, he won’t play.
“Also because of the money, because if he goes, we can strengthen ourselves considerably, I told him that honestly.” Maurice Steijn revealed.
As earlier reported, Calvin Bassey has been left out of the Ajax squad to Germany for pre-season after the club agreed a twenty-one million pounds bid from Fulham FC.
Bassey is expected to agree personal terms with the Premier league club before flying to England for medicals to formally complete a move away from Ajax Amsterdam.
When complete, It will be home-coming for the Nigerian International who was born and raised in England.
