ABOUT THE MATCH

Australia and Nigeria will be playing their second group game of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

For tournament co-hosts Australia, it will be opportunity to seal a spot in the knockout round with victory to add to their matchday one win over Republic of Ireland.

The Matildas of Australia are sure to have their cheering fans in the stands as they face Nigeria in Brisbane on Thursday.

For the Super Falcons of Nigeria, a goalless opening game vs Canada was their fifth game without a loss.

The Randy Waldrum tutored Nigerian ladies will hope to stretch that unbeaten streak to six games when they face Australia.

A win will take the Falcons level with group B Canada on four points ahead of their last group game vs already eliminated Republic of Ireland next week.

Halimatu Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade who were suspended for the opening game will return to the Super Falcons matchday squad but there is no confirmation if there will be in the starting lineup for the game vs Australia.

Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala reported suffered a knock vs Canada but should be ready to lead the Nigerian attack vs Australia.
