Son named Tottenham Hotspur captain

South Korean star Son Hyeung Min has succeeded Harry Kane as captain of Tottenham Hotspur, the club announced on Saturday August 12.

Harry Kane became skipper after Hugo Lloris but has now joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur, signing a four year contract with the Bavarians.

In his response to the elevation, Son expressed surprise and called for shared responsibility with teammates.

He said “It’s such a big honour to captain this huge club. It was big surprise and a very proud moment. I’ve already said to the players that everyone should feel like a captain, on and off the pitch”

Spurs will begin their 2023/2024 English Premier League season vs Brentford on Sunday August 13.
