Napoli Manager Garcia Lauds Osimhen’s Selflessness in win Against Sassoulo
Napoli’s manager Rudi Garcia has heaped praise on Victor Osimhen for his gracious contribution during their 2-0 triumph over Sassuolo in a recent Serie A clash.
Osimhen’s display of selflessness caught the eye and earned admiration from both fans and teammates alike.
The Nigerian forward showcased his prowess by confidently converting a spot-kick, securing his third Serie A goal of the season. Notably, Osimhen’s impressive gesture came to the forefront when he chose to relinquish a second penalty opportunity, passing it to his teammate Giacomo Raspadori. Regrettably, Raspadori was unable to capitalize on the chance.
Following Raspadori’s missed penalty, Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo stepped up to secure Napoli’s 2-0 victory, sealing the fate of the game.
During his press conference, Garcia commended Osimhen’s altruistic approach, stating, “That is a great sign, because it means he is thinking about the team and not just about himself. I loved that.”
Additionally, the former Lille manager elaborated on Napoli’s tactical considerations, highlighting the importance of utilizing the team’s attackers to maximize Osimhen’s options.
He mentioned, “Raspa is not a player who can stay on the right or left, he needs to roam around and give more options to Osimhen. The same goes for Kvara, he must give his opposing full-back a sense of constant uncertainty and unpredictability. He is unpredictable when he dribbles, but I think he can be more unpredictable tactically as well.”
Victor Osimhen has started the new Italian Serie A season on high scoring three goals in two games as Napoli defend their title.
