Balogun Scores As USA Thrash Ghana
Nigerian-born striker, Folarin Balogun scored one of the goals as USA thrashed Ghana 4-0 in an International Friendly game in the early hours of October 18.
Four first half goals saw the United States of America past Ghana’s Black Stars 4-0 in the friendly game in Tennessee.
A brace from Giovanni Reyna and a goal each from former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun and AC Milan star Christian Pulisic sealed a big win for the USA against Chris Houghton’s Ghana.
The result means USA have now won their last three senior International engagements against the Black Stars of Ghana.
In the match, Reyna fired the US National Team ahead before Christian Pulisic doubled the lead on 19 minutes from the penalty spot.
Things got worse for Ghana when Folarin Balogun scored to make it 3-0 in the 22nd minute.
Reyna completed the rout when he got his brace and the home team’s fourth goal in the 39th minute.
Ghana have thus lost back to back International Friendly games, the first a 2-0 loss to Mexico.
Chris Houghton tutored Black Stars will return to action in November for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers vs Madagascar, who yesterday defeated Genot Rohr tutored Benin Republic 2-1 in preparation for the game.
In January 2024, Ghana will join Africa’s best for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
The Black Stars are drawn with Mozambique, Egypt and Cape Verde for the group stage as they push for a fifth Africa Cup of Nations title.
