‘Dont sack Ten Hag’ – Paul Scholes warns Man Utd
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has warned his former club not to sack manager Erik Ten Hag despite the poor start to the season.
Scholes was speaking at the final whistle of Manchester United’s 4-3 Champions League defeat at FC Copenhagen on Wednesday November 8.
That defeat left the Red Devils with just a single win after four UEFA Champions League matchday’s and at the brink of group stage elimination.
Englishman, Paul Scholes who was on Punditry duty for the Champions League night said on TNT: “I still don’t feel like there’s that much pressure on Erik ten Hag.
” He had a good year and bought some time. He’s had bad injuries but nine defeats in 17 is not good enough.
“I know United have sacked before, but I don’t think they can afford to keep doing that.”
Manchester United led 0-2 vs Copenhagen until Marcus Rashford was sent off in the first half.
The hosts capitalised on the numerical advantage to draw level 2-2 before the halftime break and eventual took maximum point with a 4-3 win.
On why Manchester United lost the UEFA Champions League matchday four game vs danish club FC Copenhagen, Scholes listed luck and leadership as the missing factors.
” Ten Hag got unlucky tonight, but United put up a good fight. They lacked a bit of leadership. It’s not easy to play away in Europe.
“It’s just that collapsing that’s hurting them. Once they concede one it feels like another is coming. You can’t keep doing that every week.” Scholes remarked.
With Manchester United scrambling for points in the Premier League, out of the EFL Cup and at the brink of UEFA Champions League group stage elimination, Ten Hag will have to launch a positive run to avoid increased calls for his sack by United supporters.
