‘We are not going to respect Nigeria’ – Lesotho captain boasts

Lesotho captain Sekhoane Benedict Moerane says they will not show Nigeria’s Super Eagles respect when they faceoff in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo.

Moerane, who plays for LMPS in Lesotho acknowledged the Nigeria national team was a big opposition but insisted the Crocodiles will bring the game to the Eagles.

Nigeria and Lesotho will meet for a fifth time at full international level on Thursday, November 16 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo by 5pm.

” It’s going to be a tactical game because we are playing against a big team, Nigeria, one of the best in Africa, ” the Lesotho captain is quoted by completesports.

“This is not our first time playing against Nigeria we are going to expect a lot from Nigeria because they are going to bring the game to us to get the three points but we are not going to respect them we are going to bring the game to them too.

“We know they are a good team with lots of players coming from outside the country but on our part we have six players from outside and majority of us play in Lesotho including me.“

In the four meetings between the Super Eagles and Lesotho, the Eagles have won all the games, a record Moraene says brings pressure.

“Our record against Nigeria is not good and it puts a lot of pressure on us but like I said we will bring the game to them.” the Lesotho skipper added.
