NNL: Vandrezzer FC share spoils with ‘not-lucky’ Dakkada FC
In an intense Nigeria National League (NNL) derby at the Uyo Township Stadium, Vandrezzer FC and Dakkada FC battled to a goalless draw, sharing the spoils in a closely contested match on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Although both teams had promising opportunities in the first half to break the deadlock, the real drama unfolded in the second half, with Dakkada FC facing several near misses in their quest for a decisive goal.
At halftime, Coach Emmanuel King made a strategic substitution, bringing on Nsikak Moses for Christian Ekong. This move generated three notable goal-scoring chances for Dakkada FC, but luck eluded them in finding the back of the net.
In the 75th minute, a promising opportunity arose when Dakkada FC’s striker, Lucky Tom, played a precise pass to Nsikak Moses, whose left-footed attempt narrowly missed the Vandrezzer FC goal.
Nsikak Moses turned provider in the 84th minute, delivering a well-placed cross to Lucky Tom. Despite being in a favorable position with only the goalkeeper to beat, Lucky Tom fired the ball over the crossbar, squandering a glorious chance.
With just a minute left in regulation time, Dakkada FC had another significant opportunity to secure a late victory. Aniekan Ekpe’s shot was parried into the path of Nsikak Moses, but the winger’s attempt sailed over the target.
Ultimately, both Uyo-based NNL clubs could not find the breakthrough, and the match concluded with a 0-0 scoreline. Dakkada FC earned a valuable point on the road but will likely lament the missed chances that could have secured maximum points at the Uyo Township Stadium. The draw leaves both teams with lessons to take into their future encounters in the Nigeria National League.
