Ivorian Government orders School closure and early closure for civil servants ahead of AFCON clash with Nigeria
In anticipation of the highly awaited Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) clash between Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria, the Ivorian government has taken proactive measures to ensure widespread support for the national team.
The Ivorian government issued a directive ordering the closure of all schools in the country on January 18, coinciding with the day of the pivotal game against Nigeria at Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara.
With both teams boasting exceptional talent, the encounter is anticipated to be a fiercely contested match. Despite Nigeria’s recent struggles, the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire are considered slight favorites, and the backing of their passionate fanbase is expected to serve as an additional advantage.
The Alassane Ouattara Stadium, located in the capital city, Abidjan, has a seating capacity of over 60,000, with an overwhelming majority of tickets already sold out days before the tournament commenced.
To facilitate the movement of fans and enhance attendance at the stadium, the Ivorian government has not only ordered the closure of schools but has also mandated an early closure for civil servants by noon on the matchday.
This strategic move aims to create an enabling environment for football enthusiasts to rally behind their team and contribute to the vibrant atmosphere expected at the stadium.
The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled to kick off at 6 PM Nigerian time and 5 PM Ivorian time, promising an evening of intense football rivalry and enthusiastic support for the Elephants.
