“We need to win this game” – FC ONE Rocket captain, Lordful Philip charged up for clash with Ijebu United
FC ONE Rocket goalkeeper and captain, Lordful Philip has described today’s fixture with Ijebu United at the Eket Stadium as an important fixture and says the Indomitables need to get the win as the first round of the Nigeria National League (NNL) comes to a close.
Speaking with the club’s media ahead of the tie on Sunday, Febuary 4, 2024, Philip says victory will set the team on course for the second round of the season.
“This game is very important to us. We need to win this game, because if we win, it will increase our chances of finishing well. A win will help us end the first stanza on the fourth or fifth position.

“We want to finish in the top two this season. That’s what we are aiming at and I believe in the team that with the togetherness and oneness that we have, it is very possible.”
On the poor start to the season, Philip is not bothered and feels FC ONE Rocket can rewrite the story as the season progresses.
“Yes we have not started well this season and we have lost a game at home, but we went away and won as well.
“The first round hasn’t been too good because we are just getting to know one another better now. I believe we can turn things around in the second stanza and reach the playoffs.”
With four wins and five losses this season, FC ONE Rocket sit ninth on the log of Conference B with 12 points, but can move up to fourth or fifth with a win against Ijebu United.
Ndubuisi Ndah’s men file out against Ijebu United by 3pm at the Eket Stadium later today.
